Security Staff

Our security staff is one of the first sights you will see when coming into our store.

 
 

Our Store Policies:

  • In order to perform appraisals on jewelry and other items, your item(s) must be brought into our store.  We cannot provide accurate values via the internet or telephone.

  • We describe items to the best of our ability.  We do not give refunds unless an item has been grossly misrepresented.  For electronics or tools, this means that for an item represented as working condition, but is not actually in working condition, monies will be refunded.  If the item leaves our store in working condition, but does not function when you receive it, then you must file a complaint with UPS.  Please remember it is your decision whether or not you purchase additional insurance (on items valued over $100.00).  We are not responsible for damaged or lost goods once an item has left our store.   Additionally, a diamond is only considered grossly misrepresented if the clarity is more than 3 grades off, or if the color is more than 5 grades off.  Please remember that diamond grading is a subjective procedure and can vary slightly with each grader. 

  • The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges, unless otherwise stated.  These charges include UPS ground shipping and any additional insurance you choose to purchase.  While additional insurance is a choice, we are not responsible for any lost/damaged merchandise after it leaves our store.

  • We do not offer warranties on any items except firearms.  Used firearms purchased from Best Pawn and Exchange are subject to a one-year mechanical warranty.  New firearms purchased from Best Pawn and Exchange are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty.

  •  Utility payments cannot be paid via the internet. We can only accept utility payments at the physical location of Best Pawn and Exchange.  Customers must bring a current bill (except on BellSouth payments) in order to make a payment.  The service charge for paying most utilities through Best Pawn and Exchange is $1.00. 

  •  As agents of Fast Phones, we are authorized to write contracts to begin activation and to accept monthly payments on the behalf of Fast Phones.

  • Check Cashing:  We cash payroll and income tax checks.  In order to cash one of these checks, the customer must present a valid state-issued identification and the check must be verifiable.  We charge a flat rate of 2% for all payroll checks.  There is up to a 5% charge for cashing income tax checks, depending on the size of the check.  We do allow the purchase of merchandise as a check-cashing fee, if the purchase amount exceeds the fee to be charged. 

  • Layaway Items:  We gladly accept layaways.  Best Pawn and Exchange’s layaway plan requires a 20% deposit and at least one payment every thirty (30) days.  There is no minimum monthly payment and there is no interest on any layaway account.  However, if a monthly payment is not made, the layaway account is subject to forfeiture and no monies will be refunded to the customer.  We do not refund money on any layaways, even if the customer changes their mind about the purchase. 

  • Pawned Items:  Items to be pawned are appraised for pawn value, not replacement value.  In order to pawn an item, a customer must be 19 years of age and must present a valid state or government identification.  Pawns are the same as a collateral loan.  That is, we loan money on an item of value and we keep the item as collateral until the loan is repaid with interest.  The first 30 days of the loan is charged the same amount of interest, regardless of what day the item is picked up.  If no payment has been made within the first 30 days, a customer is given an additional 30 days called a grace period.  During the grace period, interest on the loan accrues each day.  At any time during the entire 60 day period a customer may make an interest payment in full, or they may pay the principle loan amount plus interest to redeem their item.  If no payment is made within 60 days, then the customer forfeits their ownership of the item and it becomes the legal property of Best Pawn and Exchange.   Please note that we do not give reminder calls or mail reminder notices when payment on a pawn is due.  Also please note that due to privacy laws, we are not allowed to release any pawned items (or information about a pawned item) to someone other than the customer who pawned the item.  We are required by law to submit a weekly report to local law enforcement agencies stating who and what was pawned during the previous week.
